How To Run A Dance-A-Thon Fundraiser

A dance-a-thon fundraiser is one of the most fun fundraising events you could put together for your team, cause, or school. Running this kind of fundraising event is pretty taxing, so you’re going to want a committee of committed volunteers to help you make the most of your fundraising event. 


How your fundraiser works: 

Participants in your fundraiser pledge to raise a minimum amount of money in order to participate in your fundraising event. You can require your participants to raise as a team, or raise individually. If you choose to conduct your dance-a-thon fundraiser in teams, make sure that you assign each team a color, so that your volunteers can differentiate between competitors. Participants pledge to dance for 24 hours, or as long as they can, in order to raise money. Because this fundraiser is extremely long, you will need to create a schedule for your volunteers, where they rotate for the duration of your fundraiser, making sure that participants are following the rules of the dance-a-thon, and that your fundraising event is running smoothly. 


What you’ll need for your fundraiser:

Most importantly, you’re going to need a venue for your fundraiser that you can use for a whole 24 hour period. This kind of fundraiser works best in a school gym, and should take place over the weekend so that participants in your fundraiser have time to recover afterward. You will need to provide food and drinks for your dance-a-thon participants, and have a detailed schedule for dance periods and breaks. A DJ is a great idea for this kind of fundraiser, but it’s not necessary to make your fundraiser a success. If you’re not going to have  DJ for your fundraiser, make sure that you have volunteers assigned to the music for the duration of your fundraising event.
