The Back to School season is approaching and we know that means busy schedules just get busier. It’s important to make sure that you take care of yourself while balancing your family’s responsibilities and obligations. That being said, don’t stress! We’ve got you covered with some tips to help you look and feel your best while navigating the Back-to-School chaos.
Use multi-purpose beauty products:
Your life as a Mom is busy and time is precious. Using products that have several purposes will simplify and quicken your routine! A cc-cream can act as your foundation, primer, concealer and sunscreen all in one! Or, a lip-and-cheek stain can brighten your cheeks and add long-lasting color to your lips on-the-go.
Take time to unwind:
Mom life is very rewarding, but requires a lot of your time and energy. Taking time throughout the day to pause and unwind is important for you and your family’s health! Setting aside 10 minutes to meditate or journal (or even 30 seconds of deep breathing) can improve your feelings of ease and decrease stress. In addition, capitalizing on natural moments throughout the day can help you relax and be more at ease. For example, stretching on the floor with your baby or taking in the breeze at the park may help you feel more present and less overwhelmed. Finally, reading a book or watching your favorite show before bed can add some entertainment at the end of your day.
Invest in skin care products to support your inner glow:
You shine the most when you’re taking care of yourself and feeling good. Investing in good quality products to support your skin will help you feel and look your best. SPF is an important ingredient to help protect your skin from the effects of the sun on a daily basis. You can buy moisturizer or make-up that includes SPF, or a good-ol’ sunscreen will do the trick. Moisturizers, anti-aging products, and serums are other products that will look after your skin and support your natural radiance.
Treat yourself:
It’s important to recognize your hard work and indulge in something special for yourself every once in a while. Let someone pamper you! Getting a massage or facial will help you relax and make you feel doted upon. Or, getting a manicure and pedicure will make you feel fresh and can add some color to your look! Pick your favorite way you like to treat yourself and indulge, you deserve it!
Hair hacks:
A bad hair day isn’t the end of the world, but it might not make you feel so great. Braiding your hair before you go to sleep or tucking your hair into a slick bun are easy hairstyles that can speed up your morning routine. Having products on hand, like dry shampoo or texture spray, can provide a quick fix when you don’t have time to go the full nine yards.
Additionally, tools like a blow dryer brush (which dries your hair and gives a “blow-out” look in one go!) can be very effective and efficient for styling your hair in a timely manner.
Protect your energy:
Balancing your life as well as your family’s can be overwhelming. Setting up boundaries, defining your priorities, and learning to say “no” to unnecessary stressors are important for protecting your mental wellness. As well, asking for help when you need it can help you stay within your capacity. Whether that be friends, family, or other members of the Mom community.
Furthermore, getting your busy schedule from your head and onto paper can be very effective for reducing stress. Creating a calendar that is visible for the whole family can help you all stay organized without worrying about forgetting things.
